About the Authors
Georgie and Cyndi, endearingly known as the "Cookie Ladies", "Cookie Rookies" and the "Muffin Mamas", started their publishing company ten years ago (1989) with the compilation and publishing of Colorado Cookie Collection. This cookbook was done just for friends who contributed recipes to their cookie exchanges for ten years, and enough were printed to possibly pay for printing costs. It sold so well that another printing was necessary and at that point their company C & G Publishing, Inc. was formed. With encouragement from a well-known bookstore, they wrote and published the award winning cookbook Nothin' but Muffins. Their adventuresome nature moved them to publish 101 Things to do With Ramen Noodles by Georgie's daughter, Toni, and Mystic Mountain Memories - a Mother-Son Cookbook by Josie and Jerry Minerich. Cookie Exchange is the third in the Colorado Collection Series and is a collection of five more years of recipes from cookie exchanges held in their homes.
Their most recent endeavor is a series of quick meal cookbooks: Quick Crockery Cooking, Quick Mexican Cooking, Quick Soups 'n Salads and Quick Hors d'oeuvres. This series is named the One Foot in the Kitchen cookbook series and is designed for busy cooks with very little time to get friendly with their kitchen. The recipes are easy-to-follow, list easy-to-find ingredients and can be prepared from start to finish within an hour. Cyndi and Georgie differ slightly in their opinions of what makes a quick meal. Cyndi is a from scratch cook who believes in cooking ahead, freezing the extras and creating a meal from that product. Georgie, on the other hand, creates delectable meals with items chosen from the deli case at the grocery store. Both get the job done and have written award winning, usable cookbooks for any cook.
Georgie graduated from Colorado State University with a social science degree; Cyndi graduated from Colorado State University with a merchandising and fashion design degree. They both are married to engineers and have three children. Family and friends are utmost in their lives, but they find time for other interests as well. Georgie doesn't deal with mornings well, loves to read, play bridge and supports and yells at/for the Broncos; Cyndi loves early mornings, harvests a big garden, loves to play bridge, watch the Broncos and hopes to someday find more time for her sewing and craft hobbies.
Georgie and Cyndi are always happy to share their mistakes and successes with anyone who is interested. They credit Colorado publisher friends and bookstore friends in helping them learn this fast-changing and exciting business.
